What is a chemical peel?

Now is the perfect time to work on your summer glow!

What is a chemical peel and how does it work?

A chemical peel is a facial that accelerates skin turnover. At MV Beauty Lab we use the DermaQuest Pumpkin Pulp Resurfacer which is a mix of Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic Acids.Because peels slough off those unwanted dead skin cells, and force brand new fresh skin to the surface, it gives you the appearance of tighter, brighter skin and smaller pores.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

A chemical peel facial helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin color, clarity and texture. Peels induce production of new collagen and stimulating new healthy skin cell growth, meaning you have a better glow!
The Pumpkin Pulp Resurfacer was designed to meet the needs of those with acne concerns and enlarged pores as well. The antibacterial affect of Salicylic Acid helps to prevent and treat acne for those prone to breakouts. Coupled with Lactic Acid, this treatment not only relieves post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark spots from the sun), but also improves skin’s tone and texture!

What is the downtime after a chemical peel?
You will experience tightness, heat and redness during the treatment. Usually by 2 hours after the facial you look back to your normal colour, just with smoother and more glowy skin! You won't need to take time off work to have this treatment done!

Why is winter a good time for chemical peels?
In the winter we are exposed to less sunlight, which means lower UV levels and a perfect environment to heal your skin more quickly. Having a series of 4 to 6 peels targets the deeper layers of the epidermis for enhanced exfoliation and cellular turnover. This means by summer you will have healthier, glowing skin.
